About The West Midlands Amputee Support Group, Who Are We & What Do We Do?
West Midlands Amputee Support Group
Supporting amputees of all ages and backgrounds
The West Midlands Amputee Support Group provides information and support to the limb-loss community within the West Midlands. We aim to support people of all ages and backgrounds through a variety of support meetings and social activities.
We offer support to individuals of any age, whether they are about to have an amputation or are already living with congenital or acquired limb loss and we offer assistance and information to carers, family members, and friends if they require it.
The WMASG was founded by Paul Felton, a fellow amputee whose leg was amputated below the knee due to an accident at work, and through lack of general help and support for the amputee community, Paul decided to turn a negative into a positive, thus founding the West Midlands Amputee Support Group.
If you are an amputee or are about to become an amputee you may want to chat or share your experiences with others or just attend our twice-weekly social family meeting.
Become a member of the West Midlands Amputee Support Group and meet other amputees to share information and socialise with other families through various activities including; sports, day trips, holidays, gardening, fundraising events, and social and family evenings.
We can offer advice with most issues and put you in touch with the right people, area’s which include:

“ My name is Paul Felton and I had my left leg removed below the knee in February 2013 after my ankle was crushed in a fall in April 2011 and multiple infections prevented it from heeling.
Concerned by the lack of support and help available to amputees in the region, I decided to turn what happened to me into something positive and set up the West Midlands Amputee Support Group to help people talk about their experiences and share advice on coping with losing a limb.
Now, over a decade later I am proud to be involved with such a successful and diverse amputee local community, being able to offer advice and support in a whole multitude of topics relating to both pre and post-amputees in a comfortable, friendly, welcoming, and approachable environment. ”
